The Song ‘Ascension’ by Mac Miller – Alberto’s goosebump moment

(text video)

“Hello! My name is Alberto. I am from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and my goosebump moment was when I was living in my other apartment two years ago. I was starting to live on my own so I found some difficulties about it. I was feeling down, I was feeling like I didn’t have a place in the world. Not physical place, I mean I didn’t have a place in my life with the things that I want to do, with my job because I was pursuing to have another job and I couldn’t reach it in that time. I was feeling a little lost and that song I want to talk to you is ‘Ascension’ from Mac Miller. That song was with me at that moment and every time I listen to that song it gives me chills and goosebumps every time because I remember what I was feeling in that moment and how this song was with me and saved me in that moment.”

The Deep Emotions Behind Mac Miller’s ‘Ascension’

Music is one of the most powerful tools for self-expression, and the song ‘Ascension’ by Mac Miller is a perfect example of how it can be used to convey deep emotions.

This song is an introspective journey that shows the raw and vulnerable side of the rapper, who struggled with depression, anxiety, and addiction. With its poignant lyrics and captivating beat, ‘Ascension’ is a testament to the complexity and depth of Mac Miller’s music.

It opens with a skit in which Mac Miller expresses the need to get everything out, highlighting the cathartic nature of the song. From the opening lines, it’s clear that this track is a reflection on life’s fleeting nature.

The raper says, “The truth is, I’ve been running out of time. I’m trying to find my way before I’m out of light.” This line conveys a sense of urgency, as if he’s racing against time to find clarity and purpose in his life.

One of the most powerful aspects of ‘Ascension’ is its use of metaphors. Mac Miller uses vivid imagery to describe his struggles with addiction and depression. For example, he compares his inner turmoil to a “metal spiral” that keeps pulling him down.

He also says, “I’m caught in a rainstorm, and everything feels the same. I’m swimming against the current, but everything’s in vain.” These lines suggest that he’s trapped in a cycle of negative emotions and that his efforts to break free are futile.

Another impressive aspect of ‘Ascension’ is its production. The beat, produced by I.D. Labs, is both introspective and groovy, with a mellow bassline and smooth percussion. The beat complements the lyrics perfectly, creating a mood that’s both reflective and catchy.
