“Hi, my name is Tombari. I live in Niger, and I want to share with you a goosebump moment I had about 5 years ago that has stayed with me for the rest of my life. At the time, I was having a strain on my relationship with my date and I was really broken. I had given up and concluded that this relationship has ended. So, we were having a chat on WhatsApp and I was telling her: “OK, bye, this is the end of it”. Then she sent me this song by Johnny Drille, and I listened to it. I had not heard of Johnny Drille at the time, but I listened to it and before I knew it, I was crying. Especially in the beginning of the second verse where he sang: “As I am leaving you behind, I am going to miss your smile, and the joy you bring to my wretched soul, your love makes me whole…” At that point I just realized there is still this spark.”
A Story of Long-Distance Love
Nigerian singer-songwriter Johnny Drille has released his latest single, ‘Wait For Me’. An alternative folk-inspired song, ‘Wait For Me’ tells the story of two lovers separated by distance who long for a reunion.
